2919 BC, December 31, Sunday —Egypt:

During the second unbelievably horrible year –through no fault of his own– of Semerkhet’s reign as Pharaoh of Egypt, he authorized creations of statues for the goddess Seshat and the god Sed.

Seshat was the goddess of wisdom, knowledge and writing. Sed was the god of continued rule of the pharaoh.

It was a fruitless effort.
